When you work with us, you’ll typically start the process by selecting a lot for your home and your favorite floor plan from our library of pre-designed plans. Then we’ll discuss the elevation,
where you’ll get to customize the look of your home by changing the placement of windows,
gables, the type and color of the exterior, such as brick, siding, stone or stucco. These are the elements that give your Greth home its individuality.
Next, we’ll work together to personalize your home with the features you’ve always wanted.
Based on your style preference (contemporary, traditional, French country, etc), you will choose your favorite colors and finishes for the key products in your home, including appliances, cabinets, countertops and carpet and flooring.
You’ll also select bath and kitchen faucets and sinks and fixtures as well as lighting fixtures for your new home. This is one of the most enjoyable parts of the custom home building process!

At this point, we’re just about ready to go. If you’ve decided to build in a Greth community, there will be a land sale agreement for you to sign, and you should be prepared to make a larger non-refundable deposit which will be subtracted from the total balance due at settlement.
If you’re buying the lot with your personal funds instead of financing the purchase, you could be headed to settlement in as few as two weeks! If you opted to finance part of your purchase, settlement may take about three or four weeks to occur.
If you chose instead to build on your own land, we will help you ensure that your land purchase has been completed and is ready for construction to begin. Maybe you want to build your dream home in neighboring Lehigh County or in another area. We can help with that.
Once you’re a land owner, we will proceed to reviewing and signing your new home building contract. While we wait for the bank to process your construction loan, your Greth Customer Associate will finalize your color selection, deliver your full set of prints, and answer any remaining questions. When we receive approval from the lender, settlement can occur, and we’ll be ready to start digging!
At this point, you can sit back, relax and enjoy the process of watching your dream home being built. It will take about four months for your home to be built. Unlike most builders, we believe in honesty and transparency. You will always have complete access to look around, take photos, and show off your home as we build it. We have no secrets to keep, and you’ll enjoy the freedom we give you to see exactly what we are doing at all times.
